Menu 055 -Japanese customs-

1. To wear a pair of socks. (not to cool a body)
2. To wear a belly band. (not to cool a belly or to support a big belly)
3. Not to ride a bicycle.

These Japanese customs during a maternity life are sometimes weird for foreigners.

Since I got pregnant, most of people around me banned me from riding a bicycle.

Maybe the reason is that there are some possibilities to have miscarriage or give damages to a baby when I fall down by accident.

I told this story to my Canadian friend.

She was really surprised to hear that.

Then she asked around about pregnant women's bicycle riding.

Most of people's responses were almost the same as those of people around me.

According to her, she saw several pregnant women rollerblading in Canada.

Her story made me appalled, though...

On the other hand, we, Japanese are generous to have sashimi (raw fish).

In western countries, doctors usually ban pregnant women from having raw fish.

However my doctor have never told me not to have it.

The customs during a maternity life are totally different between countries.

It is really interesting.

Menu 054 -My Little Indulgence2-

A scone with clotted cream, mulberry jam and a cup of tea.

These are the best combination.

Usually, pregnant women should refrain from taking caffeine.

But, according to some books, 3 cups of tea or coffee a day should be OK.

So I allow myself to have a cup of tea a day.

Ummmm, yum-yum. 

Menu 053 -Peckish!-

I feel like eating something  before dinner...

So a rice ball with a rice seasoning and a cup of barley tea.

This rice seasonings is my friend's handmade! So no additives!!

Then, what shall we have tonight??

Menu 052 -Not Identical Twins But Triplets-

My hubby, Mr. Cedar, is not fussy about his fashion at all.  

He has several clothes as a stock at his parents' house. 

When he stays over at their house,  he wares one of the stock next morning and never brings back the clothe he wore on the previous day. 

This clothes cycling system caused a tragedy...

Exactly the same 3 shirts from his drawer.

Menu 051 -My little indulgence-

Today I went to a hospital for my regular checkup.

Both of us, my baby and I are very well.

My baby was too shy to let me know about it's sex, a boy or a girl, though.

Now I'm just 20 weeks pregnant. So my maternity life is literally "halfway".

These 5 monthes were really long way...

At last, I've got to feel the fetal movement clearly since last week.

It makes me really happy, being able to know the baby is well.

(Sometimes the powerful kick or punch gives me a slight damege, though)

Because my No.1 concern during these 5 monthes was that I couldn't know if my baby is fine.

By the by, my No.1 concern at this moment is the weight control.

During last 4 weeks, I have put on more weight than I desired.

I'm 100% sure what the cause is...

This is it!!!  

Should I stop to lick this for my weight??

But 2 or 3 table spoons of chocolate syrup a day are my little indulgence...

メニュー050 ー藍染めー

今日の英単語　おや、まぁ！：Oh, blimey!! (オーブライミー)

夏らしくブルーの洗濯物がひらひら。

いやいや、かつては右側のエプロンと真ん中のコットンのシャツは爽やかなホワイトだったのです。

母の実家は徳島ですが、だからといって徳島で有名な藍染めに憧れた訳ではありません。犯人は左側の紺のワンピースでございます。一応、色落ちしないか確認したのに．．．数回の手洗いではわからなかった．．．涙

洗濯槽を開けたときの衝撃ときたら！！

コットンシャツもエプロンもムラなく染まったのが、せめてもの救い。

メニュー049 ーバレちゃったー

今日の英単語　バレた：(I was) Busted.


一昨日の事。シダさんが家に帰って来て、いきなり『面白い事、書いてたやん』と一言。
どうやら、この前の韓流ドラマの記事を読んだらしい。
最近チェックしてなさそうだったのに、密かに見てたみたい。
というわけであっけなくバレちゃいました。
でも、これでちょっと胸のつっかえがスッキリ。


英語メモ：
”Busted”は周囲全員にバレてしまった、あるいは秘密にしておきたかった人にバレてしまった場合に使えるらしい。
ex) 毎日クッキーを一枚ずつこっそり盗み食いしている妹をお兄ちゃんが見つけた場合。
お兄ちゃんは家族の誰にも言わなかった。→ She is not busted.
お兄ちゃんが家族全員に話した。→ She was busted.


私の場合は、秘密にしておきたかったシダさんにバレてしまったので → もちろんBusted!

メニュー048 －夏の風物詩－

今日の英単語　シソ： Shiso (多分、え？って言われそうだけど)

熱帯夜が続く最近。耐え切れず、こんなものを購入。赤い氷のマークがいい感じ。

カキ氷のシロップはなかったので、シソジュースの原液をかけて。 

あー、さっぱりして美味しーーーー！でも、暑い．．．

メニュー047 ー韓流ドラマー

今日の英単語　ラブコメ：Romcom (Romantic Comedyの略)


最近、ふとお昼につけた韓流ドラマにすっかりはまってしまった私。
普段、ドラマなんてまず見ないのに、何故かハマってしまい、内緒で見逃さぬよう録画まで予約している私。
きっと日本のドラマとは違ってリアリティが薄めであんまりドロドロしてないからかな。例えば、家にいたらピンポンもなく部屋に誰かが入ってくるとか（鍵はどうしたんだ！？とかね...）。


でも、私がハマってるのが、シダさんにバレたら、何かヤンヤと言われそうで、再来週の最終回まで気づかれないようにと祈るばかり。だって、ちょっと前までは韓流スターやらドラマにハマるのがよくわからないね、ってシダさんと共に言い合ってたわけですから．．．ただ、不注意な私。日本語吹き替えはなんか気持ちが悪いので、副音声にして見てるのだけど、家のテレビの性能がいいのか悪いのか、その番組が二重音声放送じゃないと音声の切換えボタンが効かない。つまり、ドラマが終わってしまうと、二重音声の設定を元に戻せない訳で．．．となると、大体NHKのニュースをシダさんが見ようとすると、音声が英語になってるという訳。


それが、2回連続であり、シダさんに『なんでいつもこんな設定なん？』と聞かれ一瞬冷や汗タラリの私。『ちょっとお昼に設定変えて見てたから』と答えたら、どうやらシダさん、私が英語の勉強を昼間にしていると思って触発されたのか、家ではしていなかった英語の勉強をわざわざ夜、私が寝静まった頃にしている模様。


どちらかと言えば、私は韓国語の勉強がしてみたいのに、なかなか言い出せないわー。韓国語って、日本人がやると難しいのかなぁ。時制とか発音とかってどうなんだろう？！うーん、気になるー。

今日の英単語　数独：Sudoku


日本よりも海外での方が人気が高いんじゃないかと思われるこの数独。
全く頭を使わない最近、叔母からこれ解ける？と渡された問題をやってみたら、大苦戦。
多少は解けるけど、一定のところまで来たら全く前へ進めない．．．
その問題がこちら。

是非、頭の体操にチャレンジしてみて下さい。
そして全部理論的に解いたという方、解き方求む！！です。
